Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Pakistan strongly supports all efforts aimed at promoting the well-being and prosperity of the Afghan people.

Participating in an International Conference on Afghan Women’s Education in Bali, Indonesiaon Thursday, he said importance of education for women and their participation in decision making.

The Foreign Minister stressed the need for concrete and practical assistance programs benefiting cross section of Afghan society.

PM reiterates condolences over demise of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin

China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong called on the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Welcoming the Ambassador, the Prime Minister recalled his visit to China in last month, which had demonstrated the abiding vitality of the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, the Prime Minister reiterated his profound condolences on the tragic demise of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin, noting that he is a trusted friend of Pakistan whose loss would be felt keenly.

The Prime Minister and Chinese Ambassador discussed major outcomes of the recent high-level visit, agreeing on the need for effective follow-up to translate understandings reached in Beijing between the Prime Minister and China’s leadership into tangible benefits for both countries and peoples.

Govt executes petroleum concession agreements, exploration licenses for hydrocarbon search in 6 blocks

Government has executed petroleum concession agreements and exploration licenses for hydrocarbon search in six blocks.

The blocks awarded for exploration include Chah Bali, Mach, Dadhar, Kalat West, Sui North and Meeranpur.

According to details shared by the Ministry of Energy, the minimum investment to be carried out by the companies in these blocks for prospecting will be sixty five million dollars.

The Ministry of Energy further stated in a statement that the efforts in these blocks will bear fruit in the country in the form of additional hydrocarbon reserves during the next few years and will not only enhance investment in the petroleum sector but also contribute in bridging the energy demand and supply gap.

Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Maulana Fazalur Rehman called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday.

President, PM condemn Lakki Marwat terror attack

President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have strongly condemned the terror attack on police van in Lakki Marwat.

Expressing grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the terror incident, the President said the sacrifices rendered by the security personnel in the war on terrorism are unforgettable.

He said the nation is proud of its martyrs and it will always remember their sacrifices.

President Arif Alvi said such cowardly acts cannot shake the nation’s resolve against the menace of terrorism.

In a statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the terrorists are the enemies of Pakistan and every possible step will be taken to safeguard the country.

Shehbaz Sharif paid tributes to the martyred six police personnel. He said the whole nation salutes the sons of the soil who sacrificed their lives for the motherland.

He asked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to immediately announce Shuhada package for the martyred police personnel.

Commiserating with the bereaved family, the Prime Minister prayed for the departed souls.

Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah has also strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the police personnel in Lakki Marwat.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Interior Minister sought report from Chief Secretary and IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of the incident.

LG elections in AJK to be held on 27th Nov: Sulehriya

Chief Election Commissioner Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Justice (R) Abdur Rashid Sulehriya has announced that local government elections will be held on 27th of November this year.

Briefing media in Muzaffarabad on Tuesday, he said decision in snow falling areas would take one day prior to polling day.

Election commission has made all arrangements for holding these elections in all ten districts of the state simultaneously.

He appealed to political figures to avoid issuing unnecessary statements about local government elections.

FM directs Sindh authorities to expedite relief work in flood-hit areas

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has directed Sindh authorities to expedite relief and rehabilitation work in flood affected areas.

He was chairing a high-level meeting on flood situation and relief activities in Karachi.

On the occasion, he directed Sindh government that dewatering from those affected areas be ensured first where water is standing yet.

Govt to withdraw appeal against Sharia court’s Riba verdict: Dar

The Federal government has decided to withdraw the appeals filed by State Bank and National Bank of Pakistan in the Supreme Court against a verdict of Federal Shariat Court regarding interest free banking system in the country.

In a tweet, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said the decision has been taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in consultation with the Governor State Bank.

They also decided to promote interest-free banking system in the country on fast track basis.
