Briefing session for resident Diplomatic Missions held at Foreign Office, Islamabad

A briefing session for the resident Diplomatic Missions in Islamabad on the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) was convened by the Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Government Effectiveness Dr Jehanzeb Khan made a detailed presentation informing the diplomatic corps on the establishment and various aspects of the Council.

He particularly highlighted investment opportunities in Pakistan in four key areas: IT, Agriculture, Energy and Mining. The participating diplomatic missions were requested to brief and encourage their countries to profit from the promise of Pakistan being a resource-rich country.

The Government has recently constituted the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to serve as a ‘One-Window’ platform to fast-track decision-making and promote as well as facilitate Foreign Direct Investment in the country.

Soldier martyred in gun battle with terrorists in Khyber: ISPR

A soldier of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom in a fire exchange that took place between own troops and terrorists in general area Tirah, Khyber District last night

According to the ISPR, own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, resulting in killing of one terrorist.

The killed terrorist remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent civilians.

However, during intense exchange of fire, Havaldar Muntazir Shah, a 36 years old resident of Sawabi district, having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom.

Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.

New US Consul General assumes charge in Peshawar

Senior US Foreign Service Officer, Shante Moore has assumed responsibility as the Consul General at the United States Consulate General in Peshawar.

Consul General Moore joined the State Department in year 2000 and besides other countries he has also served in Afghanistan.

PM Kakar calls for enhancing cooperation with UK in diverse sectors

Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has stressed the need to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom in trade and investment, climate change and education.

He said this while talking to British High Commissioner Ms. Jane Marriott, who called on him in Islamabad on Friday.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan and the UK have longstanding relations and said that his government would continue to further strengthen these bilateral ties. He conveyed his good wishes to King Charles III as well as to the UK leadership.

The High Commissioner conveyed felicitations to the Prime Minister on behalf of the UK leadership and said that her country would continue to extend all possible support to Pakistan during this phase of democratic transition.
