Information Minister condemns IED blast in Gichik area of Balochistan

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has condemned IED blast in Gichik area of Balochistan.

In a statement, he said such coward acts cannot undermine our resolve against terrorism.

The Minister said that the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the security forces in fight against terrorism and their sacrifices will not go in vain.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain terming the martyrdom of Captain Kashif in the incident as very sad, he prayed for higher status of the departed soul in the heavens and early recovery of the injured soldiers.

Earlier, an army officer Captain Kashif embraced martyrdom while two other soldiers were injured when terrorists targeted a security forces’ vehicle in Tobo, Gichik area of Balochistan with improvised explosive device.

In another incident, a terrorist was killed in an Intelligence Based Operation by Security Forces in Boya area of North Waziristan district.

Analogue transmitters of PBC to be replaced with digital ones: DG Asim Khichi

Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, Muhammad Asim Khichi, has said that Radio Pakistan’s all analogue transmitters will be replaced with digital transmitters under a comprehensive project at a cost of ten billion rupees.

In an exclusive interview with our correspondent Sajjad Parvez, he said the work on this project will soon be started after its approval from the Planning Commission.

He expressed the hope that through this revolutionary step, Radio Pakistan’s transmission will be digitized and its outreach will be expanded to the Central Asian States, in addition to India and Iran.

The DG said Radio Pakistan is going to start its Web Channel through which viewers will also be able to watch its news and programmes.

He further stated that his top priority is to make Radio Pakistan a financially sound institution. A viable marketing strategy, in this regard, is being evolved to enhance the income of the national broadcaster. He said the programme wing has been directed to improve the content of their programmes and make them more interesting, creative and catchy to fetch maximum revenue from the market.

Responding to a question, he said Radio Pakistan has achieved another milestone in the county’s broadcasting history after launching its Podcast service recently.

Muhammad Asim Khichi further stated that Radio Pakistan, being an oldest and biggest broadcasting institution of the country, is playing effective role for the promotion of unity and cohesion across the country.

He said all-out efforts are being made to regain its lost glory as it is a national asset and custodian of our rich national heritage since independence.

50,000 acre barren land being made cultivable in Gilgit Baltistan

In Gilgit Baltistan, fifty thousand acre barren land is being made cultivable under economic transformation initiatives.

Over twelve billion rupees will be spent on this seven years long comprehensive agriculture development project.

Our Gilgit correspondent reports that out of 76 schemes, forty seven irrigation schemes of the project have been completed with an amount of 5.35 billion rupees, besides construction of 384 kilometres farm to Market roads while 2. 28 billion rupees have been earmarked for it in the current fiscal year.

Similarly, over 41,840 acre barren land has been made cultivable.

Gandapur calls on AJK PM, development projects discussed

Minister for Kashmir Affairs Ali Amin Gandapur held a meeting with AJK Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi in Mirpur and discussed the matters regarding the socioeconomic development projects.

Matters related to provision of jobs to educated youth and accountability process without any discrimination and reforms agenda of Azad Kashmir government were also came under discussion in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister AJK Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi reaffirmed his government’s resolve to bring the state on the path to progress and prosperity.

The Minister for Kashmir affairs assured that the Federal government is launching welfare developmental projects for the well-being of the people of Azad Kashmir.

Punjab Govt to launch Rescue Air Ambulance Service in province

Punjab government has decided to launch a Rescue Air Ambulance Service in the province.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar in Lahore on Sunday.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said Punjab Emergency Service will get a new identity with launch of the Rescue Air Ambulance Service.

He said Punjab will be the first province in the region to launch such service.

SHC Restores FBR’ Millions of Dollars Worth Track and Trace Project

The Sindh High Court has restored millions of dollars Track and Trace project by giving the order in favor of M/s AJCL and FBR. SHC Judge Justice Kausar Sultan in her decision stated that this court has no territorial jurisdiction to pass an order.

The plaintiff/bidder (SICPA SA) had challenged the FBR’s grievance committee order with regard to giving an Rs. 120 million track and trace project to M/s AJCL for monitoring of Tobacco, Sugar, Cement, and Fertilizer.

The Swiss company through its counsel had stated that the bidding process was tainted with mala fide and lacked transparency.

The sole purpose was to award the license to a predetermined party to the exclusion of others such conduct is unlawful, on the other hand, the order states that M/s AJCL has also raised some objections on the maintainability of suit and territorial jurisdiction of this court through filing an application. AJCL pleaded that tender was floated from Islamabad while all bids were received and evaluated by the licensing committee based in the federal capital so their orders cannot be challenged in SHC.

The SHC Judge accepted the plea of AJCL as well as FBR on territorial jurisdiction and I am of the firm opinion that no cause of action has ever been done within the jurisdiction of Sindh High court so this court has no territorial jurisdiction to pass an order.

It is pertinent to mention here that FBR after the process granted the T&T project to the AJCL consortium as it secured 182.93 marks while NIFT and SCIPA achieved 163.96 and 162.58 marks respectively. It is also worth mentioning here that the IMF has also directed Pakistan to implement the T&T system by June 2021 but owing to court orders, the government missed this deadline.
