PEIRA to convene (online) E-Kachehri today

In pursuance of policy directions by Prime Minister’s Office, Ms Zia Batool, Chairperson Islamabad Capital Territory Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (ICT-PEIRA) will convene (online) E-Kachehri on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. E-Kachehri will be convened through official Facebook page of ICT-PIERA (http://web.facebok.com/PEIRA.Gov.Pk).

The purpose of E-Kachehri is to listen to concerns of parents, students, teachers and private schools of Islamabad related to issues of Private Educational Institutions operating in Islamabad Capital Territory only.

Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) deals with Private Educational Institutions offering education up to Intermediate Level / “A” Level or equivalent operating in Islamabad Capital Territory.

President for making higher educational institutions free from drug, tobacco abuse

President Dr Arif Alvi has underlined the need for making the higher educational institutions free from drug and tobacco abuse to save the young generation from the menace of drugs.

Presiding over a meeting with the Vice Chancellors Committee on Drug Abuse and Welfare of Differently-abled people in Islamabad today, he urged the management of universities to focus on drug prevention in their respective institutions to provide the students with a healthy and enabling environment for their studies.

The Higher Education Commission informed that the draft Policy of Drug and Tobacco Abuse has been finalized.

It was informed that each university would be required to constitute Anti-Drug and Tobacco Committee to prevent drug abuse in universities

PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issues alert about widespread rains, thunderstorms

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued an alert about widespread rains and thunderstorms in different parts of the province from tomorrow evening till Wednesday.

All the Deputy Commissioners in the province have been advised to take precautionary measures to avoid any human and material losses.

The rains can cause flash floods and land sliding in upper parts and hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

People can contact PDMA on its helpline 1700 in case of any emergency.

Seven terrorists killed during CTD raid in Loralai district

Seven terrorists of a banned outfit were killed in an exchange of fire with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Kohar Dam area of Loralai district.

According to the CTD spokesman, three accomplices of the terrorists managed to escape, however, a search operation is underway in the area to arrest them.

A huge cache of arms and explosive material has also been recovered from the compound of terrorists.
