Shahid Afridi Reveals Sarfaraz Ahmed’s Weakness as a Captain Ahead of PSL 2022

Veteran all-rounder, Shahid Afridi is confident of a good showing with Quetta Gladiators ahead of the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 7. Afridi was full of praises for Quetta’s captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed and said that he is a fighter and has been a good captain for the franchise over the past six seasons.

Afridi will play his last season of the PSL with Quetta Gladiators as he was traded in by the franchise from Multan Sultans prior to the PSL 2022 draft. This will be Afridi’s fourth team since the inception of the tournament and he is hopeful of ending his career on a high note by winning his 3rd PSL trophy.

The 41-year old said that his role in the team would be to guide the youngsters and help out Sarfaraz during pressure moments in the game. Afridi said that while Sarfaraz is a good captain, he does have the tendency to get over-emotional in the field which adds extra pressure to the shoulders of the youngsters.

Afridi said that he is expecting Sarfaraz to captain the side well and to get back into form by scoring some big runs. He added that it is always beneficial for the team when the captain is in form as it instills confidence in the players and provides the team with a perfect blueprint to follow.

The explosive all-rounder will be seen in action for the last time in PSL 2022. The tournament is scheduled to commence on 27 January at National Stadium Karachi.

Ex Indian Cricketer Compares Indian Pace Attack With Pakistan’s Deadly Trio

Former Indian cricketer turned commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar, has drawn parallels between India’s current bowling line-up of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami and Pakistan’s devastating pace trio of Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, and Shoaib Akhtar.

Manjrekar moved to this conclusion after India’s pace battery helped India beat South Africa in the first Test in Centurion last week.

Mohammad Shami was the pick of the lot with eight wickets in the game. His five-wicket haul in the first innings helped India maintain its dominance in the Test match.

“One thing that has changed in recent 5-6 years for the Indian team, which has been a rare instance for India. India’s overseas success comes because India now has the luxury of having three world-class seam bowlers. It has had a huge impact,” Manjrekar told ESPNcricinfo.

“If you look at the history of Test cricket, earlier when Pakistan used to win outside their country, they too had 3 world-class pacers. And now India finds themselves in the same condition. These are good signs for Indian cricket,” he stated.

Pakistan dominated the 90s era and early 2000s with their lethal pace attack consisting of Wasim, Waqar, and Shoaib. To this day, the trio remains one of the most ruthless and feared bowling attacks in the history of the game.

Renowned Fast Bowling Coach Says Hasnain’s Action Can Cause Him a Serious Injury

Renowned fast bowling coach, Ian Pont has pointed out some serious flaws in young Pakistani pacer, Mohammad Hasnain’s action.

Pont believes that Hasnain’s action should be rectified immediately otherwise the 21-year old can suffer a serious injury. Pont revealed that he initially pointed out the flaw two years ago and the coaches have still not been able to rectify his action.

Pont said that it is the coach’s duty to rectify Hasnain’s action and if they are unable to do so then the young fast bowler can suffer serious consequences.

Pont stated that Hasnain’s foot cross over when he lands his feet to deliver the ball. He said that this puts unnecessary pressure on the joints in the knee and ankle which can affect his bowling in the future.

He added that a young talented bowler like Hasnain should be protected at all costs and once his action is technically improved, his bowling will improve further.

The 60-year old further added that a proper technical coach is the need of the hour and only they will be able to identify such flaws in action and help the young bowlers identify them.

Hasnain is regarded as one of the exciting young fast bowling talents in the country and is one of the fastest bowlers in the circuit currently. He recently took the cricketing fraternity by storm as he bowled a three-wicket maiden in his debut over in the Big Bash League (BBL). Hasnain is currently playing for Sydney Thunder in the BBL, his first stint in Australia’s premier T20 tournament.
