The man who died after holding four people hostage at a Texas synagogue in what President Joe Biden called an “act of terror” was identified by the FBI on Sunday as a 44-year-old British citizen named Malik Faisal Akram. 5,229 patients got free treatment in Lahore Division during last two weeks: Buzdar

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that 5,229 patients got free treatment in Lahore Division during the last two weeks under Naya Pakistan Sehat Card.

In a tweet on Sunday, he said that 3,059 patients were treated in Lahore district, 1,889 in Kasur, 688 in Sheikhupura, while 293 patients were treated in Nankana Sahib.

He said that awareness among people is increasing day-by-day regarding usage of health card.

President apologizes to an aged taxpayer over administrative injustice of FBR

President Dr Arif Alvi has apologized to an aged taxpayer over administrative injustice by the Federal Board of Revenue.

The President, in a press release issued on Sunday expressed dismay over the treatment of an 82 years old tax payer by FBR.

He directed the Chairman of FBR to look into the entire system of irresponsibility and corruption and take punitive action against the entire chain of decision makers involved in the case.

Dr Arif Alvi took exception to the decision of FBR against a senior citizen that refused him to refund a paltry sum of 2,333 rupees on frivolous grounds and dragged him into unnecessary litigation spanning over a year. Apologizing to the senior citizen Abdul Hamid Khan, the President said that our heads should hang in shame for the inconvenience caused by FBR to the senior citizen.

It is pertinent to mention that Abdul Hamid Khan had claimed a refund of 2,333 rupees on his income tax return for the year 2020 and submitted requisite documents of advance tax deduction of the PTCL and cell phone company bills.

Govt taking steps to promote traditional games in country: Farrukh

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Farrukh Habib says the government is taking steps to promote traditional games like Kabaddi in the country.

He was talking to newsmen after the closing ceremony of 42nd National Kabaddi Championship, held under the Prime Minister’ Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive in Lahore on Sunday.

He said under the direction of the Prime Minister, a special talent drive is being launched to pick players of various sports and will be trained in twelve sports academies.

Govt focusing on promotion of winter sports in GB: Tourism Minister

Gilgit Baltistan Minister for Tourism and Culture Raja Nasir Ali Khan says the government is focusing on promotion of winter sports in the area.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of Ice Hickey and Ice scatting competitions in Altit, Hunza.

The Minister assured to make strenuous efforts for inclusion of Hunza ice hockey teams in international competitions.
