‘Pakistan Railways planning to restore all closed sections in Balochistan’

Pakistan Railways is planning to restore all the closed sections in Balochistan province to facilitate the masses and augment business activities.

In a statement, Ministry of Railways told APP that Minister for Railways is taking keen interest in this regard and asked the concerned official of the department to make a plan for restoration of different sections to generate income in the province.

The Ministry source said Pakistan Railways will also start rehabilitation work of a 33-kilometer track through sleeper renewal between Quetta-Bostan and Quetta-Chaman section.

Attaullah Tarar rules out possibility of early elections

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Attaullah Tarar has ruled out the possibility of holding early elections in the country.

Talking to a private news channel, he said the unconstitutional demand of early elections is not being discussed at any level, and it is off the table.

Attaullah Tarar said the new army chief will be appointed purely on merit as per Constitution.

UNDP, IslamicRelief sign MoU to support flood-affected communities in Sindh

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Islamic Relief have signed a memorandum of understanding to support flood-affected communities in Sindh.

Speaking at the signing ceremony in Islamabad, UNDP Pakistan Resident Representative Knut Ostby said the aim of this partnership is to revive livelihoods and rehabilitate critical infrastructure in the flood affected districts.

He said an initial target of ten thousand cash-for-work hours will be set, with an increased focus on inclusion of women.

Simultaneously, rehabilitation schemes will also be identified in the selected districts that can be started immediately.

Thousands of poor children being provided education, health scholarships: Shazia

Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Shazia Marri says Benazir Income Support Programme is providing education and health scholarships to thousands of children belonging to poor families.

In his video message on World Children’s Day on Sunday, she said we should remember that millions of children have been displaced by the recent floods and are waiting for our help.

The Minister urged the nation to come together to help these affected children.

Shazia Marri said that BISP is also providing sachets of vitamins and minerals to the mother and the child.

Highlighting the importance of education, she said that through unique educational scholarships, children of poor families are imparted basic education. She said girls are given special given more importance in such scholarships.
