Prime Minister assigns additional portfolios to various federal ministers


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has assigned additional portfolios to various federal ministers.

According to a notification of the Cabinet Division, Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan will also look after the communication division.

Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain will also supervise the Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.

National Food Security and Research has been assigned to Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanvir Hussain.

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal will look after the affairs of Inter-Provincial Harmony, while Petroleum Minister Musadik Masood Malik has been allocated additional portfolio of Water Resources.

PM invites French companies to invest in Pakistan’s diverse sectors


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited the French companies to invest in Pakistan.

He was talking to Ambassador of France to Pakistan Nicolas Galey who paid a courtesy call on him in Islamabad today.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan and France should work together to enhance cooperation in trade and investment.

He welcomed French side’s initiative to bring corporate leaders from top French companies on a visit to Pakistan soon.

The Prime Minister shared that stabilization of the economy is topmost agenda of the government.

Highlighting the friendly and cordial ties between Pakistan and France, Shehbaz Sharif said although the relationship has undergone a difficult phase a few years ago, the two countries are now working together to further strengthen their cooperation.

The Ambassador handed over a congratulatory letter from French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, addressed to the Prime Minister on his re-election.

The Prime Minister thanked the French leadership for the message of greetings.

y recalled his numerous interactions with French President Emmanuel Macron and lauded his valuable contribution through virtual participation at the Geneva Conference on Resilient Pakistan in January last year.

The Prime Minister reiterated his invitation to President Macron to undertake an official visit to Pakistan.

The situation in Gaza also came under discussion and the Prime Minister appreciated French peace efforts in the region. The situation in Afghanistan was also discussed.

The French Ambassador briefed the Prime Minister on the latest developments on the bilateral front.

He said a French delegation is expected to visit Pakistan for discussions on bilateral cooperation and France is keen to work closely with Pakistan at multilateral fora including the United Nations.

‘India’s arms build-up, HR situation in IIOJK threat to regional peace’


Pakistan has stated that grave human rights situation in Jammu and Kashmir, massive arms build-up by India, and its aggressive war posturing directly impact regional and global peace in South Asia.

Counselor at the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN Gul Qaiser Sarwani during general debate in the UN Disarmament Commission in New York categorically asserted that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory and is not a so-called integral part of India.

The Pakistani diplomat said that his country faces a significant threat of terrorism, which is orchestrated, supported and financed by its eastern neighbor.

He underscored that the final disposition of Jammu and Kashmir should be determined by its people through a United Nations-supervised plebiscite.

Defence Minister calls for boosting Pak-Italy cooperation in defense production


Minister for Defence and Defence Production Khawaja Muhammad Asif has emphasized the need to explore areas of cooperation with Italy in the field of joint defence production.

Talking to Ambassador of Italy, Marilina Armell in Islamabad today, he said Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with the Republic of Italy and wants to further enhance defence collaboration.

Defence Minister said the exchange of military training can be mutually beneficial and Italian Armed Forces have valuable military exposure while Pakistan Armed Forces have rich experience in counter terrorism operations.

During the meeting latest security situation along the Pak-Afghan Border and Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in the region also came under discussion.

Convoy of NLC trucks arrives in Dushanbe


In a major milestone to boost regional trade, a convoy of NLC trucks has reached Tajik capital Dushanbe after covering a distance of more than fourteen hundred kilometer.

A consignment of potatoes was exported through the NLC trucks, completing the journey from Okara and Rahim Yar Khan to Dushanbe in just seven days.

A special ceremony was held at Dushanbe Customs Terminal on the arrival of the inaugural convoy under International Road Transport.

Addressing the ceremony, Tajik Transport Minister Azim Ibrohim appreciated the official launch of ground transportation by Pakistan’s leading logistics organization.

He said this initiative marks an important milestone in bilateral trade relations between the two countries. He assured unwavering support to further facilitate smooth movement of Pakistani trucks to Tajikistan.

In his remarks on the occasion, Director General NLC Farrukh Shehzad Rao said trade under the TIR system will facilitate timely and efficient imports and exports of both countries.
