Reporters Without Borders’ 2022 Press Freedom Map Hong Kong has registered the steepest fall in an international Press Freedom Index ever this year. The city was ranked 80th last year and dropped 68 places to 148th among 180 countries in 2022. International watchdog, Reporters without Frontier (RSF), has monitored press freedom across the world through its index for two decades. Pakistan, UAE agree to further strengthen bilateral economic cooperation in various sectors

Pakistan and United Arab Emirates have agreed to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation in various sectors including trade, energy, infrastructure and petroleum.

The understanding to this effect came during the visit of a high level economic delegation of UAE to Pakistan. The delegation’s visit was in follow up of recent visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to the UAE.

Talking to the delegation the Prime Minister said Pakistan attaches highest priority to its brotherly relations with United Arab Emirates and desires to strengthen the ties to bring them to the next level especially on the economic front.

Pakistan calls for fighting proliferating ‘fake news’ on social media

At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for fighting the proliferating ‘fake news’ and disinformation on social media platforms.

The suggestion was given by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram while speaking on behalf of the “Group of 77” developing countries and China at the UN General Assembly’s Committee on Information.

The Pakistani envoy also stressed the need to pay greater attention to the promotion of sustained economic growth and sustainable development in the coronavirus and conflict-hit countries.

He said the United Nations remains the indispensable foundation of a peaceful and just world and its messages must be heard in a clear and effective manner.

Info Minister urges Imran Khan to stop mourning his failures, corruption on Eid

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has urged Imran Khan to stop mourning his failures, breaches of promises, corruption and thefts on auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

In a tweet on Tuesday night, she said Imran Khan should not spoil the happiness of 220 million people of Pakistan on this day.

She said the former Prime Minister should say a few words of remorse before Allah Almighty for his lies and corruption, and apologize to the nation.

The Information Minister said let the people celebrate happy day of Eid as they got some relief from the inflation after four years.

PIA directed to provide accommodation to passengers facing delays at Jeddah airport

Minister for Aviation, Khawaja Saad Rafique has directed the Pakistan International Airlines management to provide hotel accommodation to passengers facing delays in getting flights from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia due to ‘massive rush’ of air travelers.

Accordingly, the PIA Chief Executive Officer made a telephonic contact with Jeddah airport authorities and formally requested them to facilitate Pakistani passengers.

In a press release, PIA spokesman Abdullah Hafeez Khan said passengers can also get information about flights by making a phone call at 786 786 111.

The spokesman said PIA administration has issued instructions to provide all possible facilities to its passengers.
