The Fishermen Association of Balochistan has extended their gratitude to the Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo for solving the problems of the fishermen.

In a statement in Quetta on Saturday, the fishermen association said that the approval of 200 acres of land for fishermen of Gwadar and issuance of health cards are commendable steps taken by the incumbent government.

It said the decision of the provincial government to give the status of labour to the fishing community of Balochistan is yet another positive step.

Seventy state-of-the-art wagons of freight trains for Pakistan Railways will arrive in Karachi from China on Monday.

According to Pakistan Railways Spokesperson, the one hundred and thirty wagons will be added in the Railways system in March this year. The spokesperson said that incorporation of modern wagons into the system will increase the trend of freight movement by railways.

The Spokesperson said under the transfer of technology agreement, six hundred and twenty wagons will be manufactured in Pakistan which will save national exchequer and employment opportunities.

The Spokesperson informed that addition of new wagons will increase 1.5 billion revenue of Pakistan Railways.

The Spokesperson informed that, existing wagons can run at a speed of 80 kmph with a weight of 60 tons, while new wagons have a maximum speed of 100 kmph with a weight of 70 tons.

The second and final phase of local bodies’ elections is being held in sixteen districts in Sindh on Sunday including seven districts of Karachi division and nine districts of Hyderabad division.

Our Karachi correspondent Altaf Pirzado reports that elections will be held for seats of Metropolitan Corporation, Municipal Corporation, Town Municipal Committees, District Councils, Union Councils and Wards.

Twenty thousand one hundred and eighty candidates are contesting of which five hundred and sixty three have already been elected unopposed.
