PM expresses grief, sorrow over Nepal plane crash

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives in the plane crash in Pokhara, Nepal.

In a statement on Sunday, he said in this difficult and sad time, our sympathies and prayers are with the Government, the people of Nepal, and the affected families.

He prayed the Almighty to grant the bereaved families courage to endure this trauma with patience and perseverance.

FM to attend World Economic Forum’s meeting in Davos on Monday

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will attend the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland which will begin on Monday.

The Foreign Minister will be accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar.

The World Economic Forum annually brings together political and business leaders to identify pathways to overcome economic, social, and environmental challenges. This year’s forum is being organized under the theme, “Cooperation in a Fragmented World”.

The Foreign Minister and the Minister of State will participate in a number of WEF’s 5-days events on contemporary global and regional issues.

The Foreign Minister will share Pakistan’s perspective on economic and social impact of the evolving geopolitical realities, and challenges for the region’s security and stability.

He will highlight the developing world’s perspective on issues of climate change, food and energy security, and social vulnerabilities in times of high inflation, and slowing economic activity.

The Foreign Minister and the Minister of State will also meet participating dignitaries including political leaders, corporate executives, heads of international organizations, and leading media and civil society personalities.

PR to receive 70 freight wagons from China tomorrow

Seventy state-of-the-art wagons of freight trains for Pakistan Railways will arrive in Karachi from China on Monday.

According to Pakistan Railways Spokesperson, one hundred and thirty wagons will be added in the Railways system in March this year. The spokesperson said that incorporation of modern wagons into the system will increase the trend of freight movement by railways.

The Spokesperson said under the transfer of technology agreement, six hundred and twenty wagons will be manufactured in Pakistan which will save national exchequer and employment opportunities.

The Spokesperson informed that addition of new wegons will increase 1.5 billion revenue of Pakistan Railways.

The Spokesperson informed that, existing wagons can run at a speed of 80 kilometer per hour with a weight of 60 tons, while new wegons have a maximum speed of 100 kilometer per hour with a weight of 70 tons.

Govt decides to keep POL prices unchanged till Jan 31

The government has decided to keep the existing prices of Petroleum products from Monday till Jan 31.

This was announced by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar while addressing a news conference in Lahore on Sunday.

He said existing price of petrol is 214.8 rupees, diesel 227.80 rupees, kerosene oil 171.83 and light diesel oil 169 rupees per litre and will continue for the next fortnight.
