GB CM directs to provide relief to flood affectees

Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khorsheed has directed relevant departments to utilize all available resources for removal of debris from flood affected Nallas to ensure smooth flow of water.

In a statement on Sunday, he also directed to provide relief to the flood affectees.

KP: Five killed in different rain-related incidents

Five people were killed and four others injured in different rain-related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during last 24 hours.

Director General PDMA Sharif Hussain said the district administrations and other concerned departments have been directed to accelerate relief operations in their respective areas.

Polling for eight reserved seats of AJKLA to be held in Muzaffarabad tomorrow

Polling for the eight reserved seats of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (AJKLA) will be held in Muzaffarabad on Monday.

According to Election Commission, the polling will be held at the hall of the Legislative Assembly from 08:00 am till 02:30 pm.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission has issued the list of 22 contesting candidates for the eight reserved seats.

Five seats are reserved for women, and one each for Ulema-o-Mashaikh, technocrats and overseas Pakistanis.

Ten candidates are in the run for five women reserved seats, while four each for Ulema-o-Mashaikh, Overseas Pakistanis, and Technocrats seat.

Meanwhile, the inaugural session of the newly elected Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly will be held on Tuesday, wherein the newly elected members of the house will take oath of their office.

KP govt takes notice against staff involved in misusing powers during SSC exams

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has taken strong notice against the supervisory staff who involved in misusing powers during SSC and Inter Examination-2021.

In this connection, the KP Education Department, through a letter, took strong notice and sent this letter to the heads of all education boards regarding poor arrangements in matriculation and intermediate examinations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

 

Complaints of corruption and poor management were received against the examination staff and in this connection, the education department KP directed the heads of all educational boards to compile a complete report on the relevant complaints and immediately send it to the education department for further action against all those found misusing of their power.

CM Punjab directs line depts. to remain alert to deal with possible monsoon floods

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed all the departments concerned to remain alert round-the-clock to deal with possible monsoon flooding in the province.

Chairing a meeting in Lahore today (Saturday), the Chief Minister directed to construct underground water tanks in major cities of the province including Faisalabad to store rainwater. He asked the commissioners to devise a plan in consultation with WASA in this regard.

Sardar Usman Buzdar said that the provincial government has decided to provide every possible resources to the administration to deal with any situation caused by possible floods.

Partial lockdown enforced in Sindh to contain spread of Covid-19

As per decision of Sindh government, partial lockdown was enforced in the province, including Karachi today (Saturday), to contain the spread of fourth-wave of the Covid-19.

All businesses except grocery, meat and vegetable shops and pharmacies remained closed.

Inter-city transport was also off the road while light vehicles with strict adherence to SOPs were allowed to ply on roads only for vaccination purpose.

Sindh government has announced to end ban on pillion riding and allow public transport to ply, to facilitate people for vaccination.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi today, Spokesman of Sindh government Murtaza Wahab said the lockdown will not be applicable to inter-provincial transport and airports.

He said only those institutions will be allowed to work which get their employees vaccinated while the institutions violating the SOPs will be sealed for one month.

Meanwhile, National Command and Operation Center has said federally administered sectors in Sindh will continue to operate in accordance with pre-determined SOPs during the lockdown.

In a statement today, the forum said these sectors include flight operations under SoPs, railways with seventy percent passengers, Pakistan Stock Exchange and other offices of federal government with minimum staff as per the SoPs.

Efforts are underway to restore vehicular traffic on Karakorum Highway between Chilas and Gilgit.

Our Gilgit correspondent Sher Muhammad reports that Frontier Works Organization has cleared debris of landslides at 23 points while work in Tata Pani is underway where 120 meters road was caved in.

The road between Gilgit and Hunza has been opened which was blocked at Hassanabad in Hunza.

The Naran-Babusar road, which was blocked due to landslide at Lolusarin Naran, has also been opened for all types of traffic.

Meanwhile, flash floods hit Jutial, Basine and Buirmas Nallas in Gilgit today.

Usman Dar asks PML N to accept AJK election results instead of leveling baseless allegations

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Muhammad Usman Dar has asked Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to accept the results of Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections instead of leveling baseless allegations of poll rigging and horse-trading.

Talking to a private news channel, he said PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz adopted anti-state narrative during the election campaign in AJK.

He said she never criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is involved in killing of innocent Kashmiri people.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan has comprehensively highlighted the Kashmir cause at all international fora and urged the international community to come forward and take notice of bloodbath and genocide perpetrating by the Indian troops in the territory.

Replying to a question, he said PTI government has strengthened and stabled the national economy through prudent economic policies besides giving foremost priority to the agricultural growth.
